What will Donald Trump bring for the financial markets?
On 8 November 2016 Donald Trump won the presidential elections in the USA. At the moment it is rather uncertain what is going to happen in the financial markets. It is a big question how the election’s result will affect the FED’s base rate increase expected for December. It seems that Trump’s economic policy is to speed up the US economy using fiscal means.
On the other hand, this strategy may also lead to the FED increasing the base rate. As for the securities market, certain sectors may profit from Trump’s victory, such as companies in the health, financial and military industries. On the contrary, businesses that highly rely on export may see things take a turn for the negative. What about Hungary? The government announced their intentions to raise the minimum wage and decrease social contributions and the corporate tax, in order to give momentum to the economy in 2017.
