Meat can be brought to slaughterhouse without qualification

The requisite amendment of the Ministry of Agriculture dismissed smaller slaughterhouses under the obligation of operating, if they obtain the meat from a livestock plant within 50 kilometres and market it locally or transport it to Budapest.

The smaller slaughterhouses may request for dispensation from under the certification requirement. These slaughterhouses can slaughter no more than 25 cattle a week, or 50 pigs or 80 sheeps. The municipality and hospital slaughterhouses can be exempt from the certification requirement, if they use the meat for their own use – appeared in the 126th issue of Magyar Közlöny, that was published on 10th September.
