Consumer confidence in the euro area and the EU deteriorated minimally in January

Analysts are surprised by minimal decline in consumer confidence
In the 27 Member States of the European Union, the value of the consumer confidence index fell by 0.4 points to minus 10 points in January.
After a decline following the outbreak and spread of the coronavirus pandemic, the consumer confidence index in both blocks rose above the long-term average for the first time in April last year. In January this year, the consumer confidence index in the EU and the euro area also approached the long-term average. (MTI)
