The minimum wage gap is large in the EU
There is a huge, nearly eight-fold gap between the EU member states in the minimum wage. The highest minimum wage is paid in Luxembourg – according to a report released on Friday by the EU’s Statistical Office (Eurostat).
Eurostat has been investigating the minimum wage in the 22 Member States where a law provides the minimum payable wage for full-time employees.
According to a survey reflecting the situation on 1 January this year, the highest minimum wage was paid in Luxembourg (1999 eros per per month), while the lowest was paid in Bulgaria (261 eros per per month). (Bajnok Artúr, MTI)
