Satisfaction with public transport in the capital remains high, at over 90 percent – this was revealed in the latest representative research of the Budapest Transport Centre for 2024. The survey, which is repeated annually and surveyed more than 3,000 people, has yielded similar results in the past few years, but BKK pays close attention to minor differences, treating them as feedback. Since last year, commuters in the capital have been more satisfied with the speed, comfort, information channels and the BudapestGO application of public transport.

BKK has been paying special attention to passenger feedback for years and has been developing its services taking into account the opinions of passengers. The company is constantly receiving feedback on public transport, and BKK also asks its customers for their opinions in an official form every year, in the context of a representative research study. In the latest representative survey conducted for 2024, with more than 3,000 people, respondents shared their opinions on, among other things, the condition of the vehicles, the sense of safety, BKK’s sales channels and the price of public transport.

Fast and accessible

The survey revealed that regular users of public transport remain satisfied with BKK’s services, and satisfaction has increased from 87 percent to 93 percent compared to the survey a year ago. The company’s research has shown for years that the more someone uses the service, the more satisfied they are with its quality.

The respondents rated BKK’s service most positively: its speed (95%), its accessibility (93%) – i.e. the company’s flights and services are easily accessible – and the quality of passenger information (92%). Compared to the previous year – probably due to the tariff system introduced in March last year – satisfaction with the price level has also increased, and there is a significant improvement in satisfaction with speed (plus 4 percent) and comfort (plus 4 percent).

Similar to last year’s survey, a third of respondents said that the quality of public transport has noticeably improved in the past five years, with most seeing improvements in the renewed vehicle fleet, the company’s digital sales solutions – such as BudapestGO and Pay&GO – and the quality of metro stops.
