Always, under all circumstances, the interests of Hungarian farmers come first
The interests of Hungarian farmers come first, which is why our country continues to maintain the ban on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products – stated Minister of Agriculture István Nagy, who received Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Tarasz Kacska in his office on Monday.

The head of the ministry explained at the meeting that a dialogue must be held in order to be able to provide appropriate answers to the challenges facing agriculture. By getting to know each other’s point of view in more depth, more considered decisions can be made. The minister also expressed his hope that the war raging in our neighborhood should end as soon as possible and in the most reassuring way. István Nagy said that our country is aware that the smoothness of its agricultural exports is extremely important for Ukraine, as this represents one of the largest budget revenues for the operation of the country. However, in the interests of Hungarian farmers, our country continues to maintain the import ban on Ukrainian agricultural products. At the same time, transport is still allowed, so Ukrainian products can reach the recipient markets by land route in addition to sea transport. The minister also touched on the fact that the autonomous trade measure (ATM) introduced by Brussels will last until June 5, 2025. The primary interest of our country is for the European Union to put regulations on the table that take Hungary’s interests into account.
