METRO does its best to promote fish consumption
The sales by METRO keep growing, thanks to the constantly changing selection of products and prices following market trends – we learn from METRO Hungary’s communications director Yvette Krubl. They sell 60 different fresh products, plus frozen and canned fish and other fruits of the sea. METRO does everything it can to popularise fish and educate consumers (with recipes and preparation methods). In-store tasting sessions are used regularly to convince Hungarian shoppers that fish cannot only be consumed during the Christmas holiday. METRO’s primary source is fish farmers and fisheries, where the exact origin is guaranteed and direct relationships guarantee that fish reach stores in the shortest period of time possible – sometimes in just a few hours. Expert advice, getting fish ready for preparation and special packaging are all extra services provided by METRO stores to their customers. Their latest offering is five different types of kitchen-ready marinade made from 98 percent fat-free ingredients.
