Every third Hungarian draws inspiration while drinking coffee
A good coffee can do wonders – it refreshes, inspires and gives energy. According to recently conducted research by Costa Coffee, one of the leading players in the domestic premium coffee market, coffee is a strong inspiration factor. Based on this, the company wants to find out who is inspired by a quality coffee, and therefore announces the Costa Art & Craft competition with a total prize of more than HUF 2.25 million, for which it welcomes applications from professional artists, participants in art higher education and all Hungarian artists over the age of 18. until the end of August.
Coffee is present in our everyday life: although the domestic coffee market experienced a quantitative decline in recent years due to the effects of inflation and the changing economic environment, the market started to reorganize in 2024. In the first four months of this year, according to Nielsen data, the retail coffee market started to grow again. In the period from January to April, it exceeded the level of the same period in 2023 by 1.8% in sales volume and 5.7% in value.
According to the latest Nielsen data, the value of the domestic retail coffee market (not including instant coffee) was HUF 75 billion between April 2023 and April 2024. In this period, manufacturers and distributors sold a total of 14.4 thousand tons of coffee beans, ground and capsules on the domestic market. Coca-Cola HBC Hungary is present with its products in the premium segment, which covers 9% of the entire retail coffee market by value, where it has now emerged as a stable player thanks to the Costa Coffee and Caffè Vergnano brands.
