All affected purchasers must now work with new, producer-friendly contracts
Since July 1, 2024, mandatory elements of contracts between producers and companies purchasing products and live animals from them in the fruit and vegetable, pork and poultry sectors include provisions on the sharing of risks arising during production and delivery.

The Ministry of Agriculture has compiled a professional information material on what this means in practice and what issues must be resolved in contracts between producers and their buyers/customers in order to share risks in accordance with legal requirements. With the new legal regulation, the Ministry of Agriculture provides tangible protection for agricultural producers against purchasers and helps producers with less bargaining power and ability to assert their interests. Since January 1, 2025, purchasers who use inappropriate contracts, thus burdening the producer with the risks arising from other contractual obligations outside of its production activities (e.g. delivery of goods, handover of goods), may even face fines.
