The net sales revenue of all groups of ornamental plants increased in 2023
In 2023, according to data received as part of the data collection, the net sales revenue of ornamental plant production amounted to HUF 17.3 billion, of which the sales revenue of nursery plant production was HUF 10 billion (57.7 percent), and the sales revenue of cut flowers and cut green products was HUF 1.9 billion (11 .2 percent), and that of potted plants intended for planting and bulbs was HUF 5.4 billion (31.0 percent).
From the point of view of net sales, among the ornamental plant groups in the period between 2019 and 2023, the nursery activity was the dominant one, the value of which is constantly increasing. Cut flower and cut green products are still the smallest. In 2023, the net sales revenue of nursery activities rose by 4.6 percent, and that of cut flowers and cut green products by more than 21 percent in one year.
The net sales of potted balcony and bulbous, rhizome plants intended for planting in the period 2017-2019 brought a profit of HUF 3-3.4 billion to the producers
After that, a slight decrease was observed in 2020, when it amounted to HUF 3.1 billion. And in the year 2021-2022, the product group could claim a profit of HUF 4.4-4.9 billion. In the observed year, the value of the sales revenue increased further, by nearly 9.5 percent, thus reaching the highest revenue ever, 5.4 billion forints. The net sales revenue of cut flowers and cut green products in the observed year 2023 amounted to HUF 1.9 billion, which represented an increase of more than 21 percent compared to HUF 1.6 billion in 2022, but the outstanding sales revenue of 2018 was still smaller than last year (-21 percent).
