The Ministry of Agriculture pays special attention to the preservation of the farm lifestyle, the preservation of farm identity and the development of rural infrastructure. That is why last year, in the new agricultural support cycle, it announced a call for applications with a budget of 15 billion forints for the infrastructural development of farmsteads.

The assessment of applications has begun, as a result of which 99 farmstead residents will receive support in the first round, worth a total of nearly 1 billion forints, announced István Nagy, Minister of Agriculture, on his social media page. The Minister highlighted that a decision was also made to extend this application opportunity, so the submission deadline originally planned for April 1 will be changed, and from September 3, it will be possible to submit support applications again. This way, farmstead residents who have not applied so far can also take advantage of the development opportunity. The farmstead development program has been among the support measures of the ministry for almost a decade and a half. Initially, it was fully funded by national funds, then within the framework of EU agricultural support, first with the Rural Development Programme and now with the current Common Agricultural Policy Strategy, to support the infrastructural renewal of farms and the development of their management. During the previous support cycle, the basic infrastructure of more than 4 thousand farms was built, with a total value of more than 16 billion forints – added István Nagy. In the current call, the activities eligible for support include drinking water supply, reliable electricity supply, and the development of efficient individual wastewater treatment, with a support amount of up to 25 million forints. The measure also contributes to strengthening the population retention capacity of rural areas. The range of supported applications will continue to expand in the coming weeks, as their processing and decision-making are also ongoing – informed the minister.
