LG’s new washing machines come with a microplastic filter
LG Electronics (LG) is showcasing a comprehensive, AI-powered, and highly energy-efficient laundry cleaning portfolio at IFA in Berlin, one of the world’s largest and oldest consumer electronics and home appliance trade shows. European consumers are increasingly looking for sustainable home appliances that fit into a variety of lifestyles and living spaces – and the new product line responds to these needs.
The flagship model in the product range is the LG heat pump washer-dryer – or LG WashCombo – which combines the benefits of LG’s washing machines and dryers in one appliance. Originally introduced in Europe as part of the premium SIGNATURE series, the previous model received the highest energy rating, A, for the complete wash-dry cycle, but of course the new heat pump washer-dryer also falls into this energy efficiency class, also based on the complete cycle. The appliance is powered by state-of-the-art DUAL Inverter HeatPump™ technology and low-GWP refrigerant (R290), which enables exceptional energy efficiency to meet the strict requirements of European regulations. The large-capacity, yet under-counter design offers a space-saving solution for European households, while advanced AI algorithms provide fabric care tailored to the composition of the load. With this highly efficient series, LG aims to further strengthen its leading position in the European energy-efficient washer-dryer market.
In line with the company’s sustainability efforts, LG’s new washing machines also feature a Microplastic Care Cycle program that reduces the amount of microplastics released into the water from synthetic fabrics by up to 60 percent*, while advanced AI motion control delivers the highest level of energy efficiency in the industry. Powered by AI Core-Tech, powered by AI DD™ technology, the appliances’ AI Wash™ feature senses the weight of the load and the softness of the fabric and selects the optimal wash cycle accordingly – protecting fabrics while reducing energy consumption.
LG’s new dryer models also feature industry-leading A-class efficiency. Powered by AI Dual Inverter™ technology, AI Dry™ intelligently senses the weight, material and moisture content of the load and adjusts the drying speed accordingly – especially for delicate fabrics – while reducing energy consumption.
LG recognizes that many European consumers are the ones who install and commission their new home appliances themselves, so it offers them a self-check installation feature via the LG ThinQ app. In addition, the newly introduced Comfort Kit for the European 24-inch door diameter washing machine lineup improves usability and accessibility for every household.
