When do we tend to overeat?
A recent survey conducted by one of the UK’s leading supplement companies has revealed 7pm on Sunday to be the time that our willpower is at its lowest and we are most likely to give in to comfort eating.
Nearly half of us (48%) admitted that we are most likely to binge on unhealthy snacks, such as crisps, cake and chocolate, between 7pm and 10pm on Sundays. This is almost certainly down to a large number of us suffering from pre-Monday blues and dreading the start of another week.
Another 65% stated that they were more likely to reach for high fat and sugar foods after a bad day at the office, proving that a large amount of over-eating is work-related, while a further 29% of respondents selected between 3pm and 5pm as their dieting danger zone.
Lee Smith, Managing Director of FORZA Supplements, which commissioned the study, said: “Fat o’clock is a nightmare for dieters. It’s that time when you’re especially vulnerable and the only thing that is going to stop your cravings is a padlock on the pantry.
“It is useful for everyone to know the exact times of those danger spots so that they can eat more sensibly on those days.”
As well as highlighting Friday, Saturday and Sunday as the worst days for dieters, the survey of 750 people also determined that Monday was the most likely weekday when people turn to junk food.
