METRO: “Donate to get them food!”

Tokody Tibor, Koltai Tamás, Varga Roland, Molnár Péter, Pátkai Máté, the footballers of the Győri ETO FC football club received the Child Nutrition Foundation’s “Donate to get them food!” entitled action implemented with the support of METRO, in Győr on 17 July 2012.

In Hungary about 7 percent of the population living in deep poverty. The ratio of people who are living in extreme poverty under age 18 increased to 28.8 percent in 2010, from the 21.5 percent of 2008. The physical existence of these children depends on the free access or discounted access to food in schools or kindergartens. For them, the most vulnerable period is the weekend and school holidays period, when they cannot have free meals. The crisis also narrowed the available support of the local governments also.

The participants of the event in Győr – footballers of the Győr ETO FC personally called the attention of the citizens upon the importance of fundraising.

The money was collected at the site of the event. The Foundation’s staff entrusted the local-government for the distribution. In paralell, the monthly long-term food dose of 200 families a was handed out at the site. In the organization of the action in the composition of the food packages, and in transportation the METRO Kereskedelmi Kft. provides assistance for the third year now.
