Müller expands use of AI for shelf placement and pricing
Drugstore chain Müller is deepening its partnership with software provider Relex Solutions by introducing new AI-powered features to optimize shelf placement, pricing strategies, and promotional planning. The goal is to improve product availability, streamline inventory, and reduce waste caused by expiry dates.
Müller has been working with Relex since 2018, initially implementing forecasting and replenishment tools in stores, and later expanding them to distribution centers in 2021. The new features allow the software to factor in promotions, weather, seasonality, and weekdays to better predict customer demand.
“AI-based forecasts and our joint early warning system help us detect disruptions early and respond quickly – reducing expiry-related write-offs and stabilizing inventory,” said Raffaele Muoio, Müller’s head of warehouse planning.
The retailer operates over 950 stores across nine European countries, offering a portfolio of around 190,000 products.
