Co-op uses AI to fight GBP 40m losses in the UK
British supermarket chain Co-op is using AI technology to detect offenders carrying hidden weapons or stolen goods, after costs from theft and fraud rose by 19% to GBP 39.5m in the first half of 2024.

The new technology, which is currently being tested, can also detect physical attacks on staff and immediately alert the central monitoring station. Co-op says there was a 44% increase in shoplifting and violence last year. //
