Milk and dairy product prices decreased at the beginning of the year in Hungary
According to AKI PÁIR data, the national average producer price of raw milk in Hungary was 163.81 forints/kilogram in January 2026. In addition to the 0.09 percentage point improvement in fat content, 0.02 percentage point decrease in protein content, and 14 percent decrease in the base price, the average price of raw milk in January 2026 fell by 14 percent compared to December 2025 and by 21 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.

The purchase of raw milk in January 2026 was 1 percent lower than both the previous month and January 2025. The export price of raw milk was 117.19 forints/kilogram in January 2026, 24 percent lower than the previous month and 41 percent lower than the same month of the previous year. The export price was 28 percent lower than the average producer price.
According to AKI PÁIR data, raw milk deliveries in January 2026 decreased by 13 percent compared to December 2025 and by 6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.
According to AKI PÁIR data, the processing sales prices of Trappist cheese, 2.8 percent fat-containing boxed fresh milk (both -2 percent), cow’s cheese, 1.5 percent fat-containing boxed UHT milk (both -3 percent), portioned butter, sour cream, fruit yogurt (both -4 percent), and 2.8 percent fat-containing boxed UHT milk (-5 percent) decreased in January 2026 compared to the previous month. According to KSH data, in the same comparison, the consumer prices of fruit yogurt (–1 percent), Trappist cheese, 2.8% fat UHT milk (both –2 percent), pasteurized ESL milk with 2.8 and 1.5 percent fat (both –3 percent), portioned butter (–4 percent), and 20 percent fat sour cream (–5 percent) decreased.
