Merényi Viktor, chef of the Hungarian Embassy won the Embassy Chef Challenge Grand Prix in Washington
Merényi Viktor, chef of the Hungarian Embassy won the culinary competition of the chefs working in diplomatic missions Washington.
The task of the 15 master chefs was to prepare 400 portions of food, typical in their home country. The Hungarian chef chose sous vide (beef brisket prepared with a vacuum, slow cooking process) stuffed smoky stew puree with confitted potatoes, with sour cream noodles served with red wine sauce.
The Hungarian taste master showed “creativity and artistic skills”- Washington Post quoted the appreciation of the professional jury. According to Washington Post Merényi’s creation “dazzled” the judges including Tim Carman, culinary professional writerof Post, Carla Hall, Top Chef competition participant and last year's winner, the Danish Lars Beese.
