When most of us think of Easter, we think of a lavishly laid family table: braided bread, boiled eggs, ham, creams, and pastries. However, for those who are gluten intolerant, have a milk or egg allergy, or follow a special diet due to insulin resistance or other carbohydrate metabolism problems, the holiday menu can often be a challenge.

However, the good news is that the Easter table can be varied and festive even if certain ingredients have to be omitted from our favorite dishes. Free cooking is no longer about giving up: with the right ingredients and well-chosen recipes, classic Easter dishes can be prepared in a way that preserves the flavors and the festive experience.

The usual flavors, gluten-free

One of the most important elements of the Easter table is the braided cake, which symbolizes renewal and abundance in the spring holiday season. Fortunately, there are now flour mixes and alternative ingredients that can be used to bake soft, fluffy cakes without gluten, so even those with sensitivities don’t have to give up their usual delicacies. For example, millet-based or fiber-rich flour mixes can be a good alternative, and in many cases they can also be used for dairy- and egg-free recipes. Szafi’s flour mixes, for example, are completely gluten-free and guaranteed to have no chance of cross-contamination, so they are also suitable for people with severe intolerances. These ingredients not only help maintain the right consistency, but they can also often be more nutritionally beneficial due to their higher fiber content.

“Many people make the mistake of only looking at what a product does not contain when it comes to free foods – for example, whether it is gluten-free. However, what it is made of is just as important. The quality of the ingredients and the nutritional value of the ingredients are just as important – especially for those with a more sensitive digestive system.”

– said Anita Ipsits, CEO of Szafi.
