Peach flavour taking the lead in terms of quantity
According to the Nielsen Retail Index, sales of fruit juice stagnated at slightly over HUF 46 billion in 2008. Sales in terms of quantity were down by 5 percent in 2008. Peach became the number one flavour (19 percent) in terms of quantity sold, with orange falling back into second place (18.7 percent). In terms of value, orange retained its leading position, with mixed fruits in second and peach in third place. The average price of 100 percent fruit juices dropped by HUF 2 in 2008. The price of nectars dropped by HUF 17 in the same period, while that of drinks rose by HUF 7. Fruit juice was the sixth largest food category among those monitored by Nielsen. The market share of private labels was up by 6 percent last year, reaching 36 percent. The 401-2,500 square meter segment was the dominant distribution channel with a market share of 35 percent.
