How green is the world's “most sustainable Olympics”?
The organizers of London's Olympics heralded this year’s summer games as the greenest and most sustainable Olympics of the world, and although in some areas they actually achieved a podium place, there are commitments that were clearly not been met.
In case of buildings gold medal is sure: two-third of the stadium’s roof was built of recycled steel. Sustainable sources of wood was used for the building of the Cycling Track (Velodrome): nature provides the ventilation and lighting of the building. However the centre of water sports is made of concrete and steel, barely complying with the sustainability criterias – writes the online edition of The Daily Telegraph. (MTI)
