Smuggled cigarettes were seized near Beregdaróc
Nine thousand boxes of cigarettes worth 7.5 million HUF were left behind by fleeing smugglers near Beregdaróc – the press officer of the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) told MTI on Friday.
Dávid Zoltán told that the finance officers held controls in the region of the the Hungarian-Ukrainian border, when they saw two men, one of them was a well-known former cigarette smuggler. They were stopped, but the officers did not find illegal merchandise.
A short time later, not far from the scene several people showed up who were carrying packages. When they saw the finance guards the threw the boxes and fled. (MTI)
