Cerbona acquires BOCI, which marks a new chapter in the story of the iconic brand
Nestlé has announced the sales of its BOCI, MELBA and PÁRIZSI KOCKA trademarks to Cerbona (A.R.M. Alba Régia Mercator Ltd.). Nestlé acquired BOCI and the other brands concerned during the privatisation process in 1991, together with the Szerencs Confectionery Company.
“We are convinced that BOCI will be in good hands at Cerbona, and the success of this iconic brand with a long tradition in Hungary will be ensured in the future” Péter Noszek, Managing Director of Nestlé Hungária Kft said. “At the same time, the sale of BOCI will allow Nestlé Hungária’s Confectionery Business to focus on its strengths and growth brands such as the well-known KitKat and the highly popular Balaton”, he noted.
“We are delighted that after successful negotiations, the 100% Hungarian-owned Cerbona will acquire BOCI, MELBA and PÁRIZSI KOCKA, which have a history of almost 100 years, Tamás Mészáros, CEO of Cerbona said. “We are delighted to have acquired these popular brands and Cerbona will ensure their continued growth.”
To ensure continuity of supply, Nestlé will continue to manufacture the products concerned during a transitional period, thus guaranteeing consumers uninterrupted access to their favourite chocolate. The transaction will close on 22 May 2024.
