This year’s StarStore – Retailer of the Year winners announced
This year was the 9th when Trade magazin invited points of sale and retail chains with a registered office in Hungary to a competition. The jury of experts evaluated the entries and the public vote set new records. As for the award ceremony, it took place at the gala dinner of the FMCG industry’s biggest conference on 28 September.
The StarStore – Retailer of the Year competition was open to stores with the best design in line with the sales concept, with a store design that is in harmony with the needs of the target group both inside and outside, and the same is true for the product presentation, store staff and services – and all of this is reflected in communication too. There were no restrictions as regards the profiles of the shops, with opportunities for each retail category, from grocery stores to bookshops, national tobacco shops, pharmacies, manufacturer’s stores, and from this year, hospitality units too. Entries could be submitted by owners or shop operators, architects, designers, contractors, both jointly and individually. This year the competition for retail chains also continued, in the same categories, based on market results, success, development objectives, and complex operational assessments.
A total of 32 entries were assessed by a jury panel consisting of the best experts, but shoppers also had the opportunity to reward their favourites with a public vote award, in both the shop and the retail chain categories. In addition to the category winners, overall winners were also selected in the store and retail chain competitions, honouring the stores that got the highest score from the jury.
This year’s public vote mobilised more people than ever before, thanks to the activity of the contestants and the promotions that encouraged them to vote. About 261,000 votes were cast on the competition entries this year.
From the StarStore – Retailer of the Year competition candidates, the representative of the point of sale with the best rating received the Store of the Year Hungary 2023 award, while the most successful retail chain was named Retailer of the Year 2023.
