This year’s Gundel Award winners have been announced

The Hungarian Restaurant Association will once again present the Gundel Award, a professional recognition also known as the Kossuth Award of the profession, established in memory of the work of restaurateur and gastronomic writer Károly Gundel.

László Kovács, President of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, announced the names of the awardees

The award, established by the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was decided on September 19 by an Awards Committee consisting of 18 professional organizations and representatives of the Gundel family, which was announced shortly afterwards at a press conference held at the Hungarian Museum of Commerce and Hospitality.

The Awards Committee awarded the 2025 Gundel Károly Award to Sándor Gottwald (founder and owner of the Hotel Gottwald Wellness Hotel and Restaurant in Tata), László Ruprecht (gastronomic consultant, chef, president of SVÉT) and Rudolf Semsei (founder and head of the Semsei Gastronomy group, which unites Budapest Party Service, the VakVarjú restaurant family, the Dobay patisseries and the newest experience complex called Paprika House).

The Gundel Award ceremony will take place at the MVI Gala Dinner on Sunday, October 19 at noon, at the Gundel Restaurant.
