On December 6, 2023, at 12:00 p.m., in the FELIX Kitchen & Bar, the winner of the “Wine Producer of the Year in Hungary 2023” title organized by the Hungarian Wine Academy, the most prestigious domestic award that can be won by Hungarian winemakers, was announced.
The award does not mean recognition of the excellent quality of a wine, but can be awarded for the outstanding performance of the winning wine producer over several years, for the constant, excellent quality of his wines, for their domestic and foreign successes, and for his efforts for the wine industry.
Winner of the 2023 Wine Producer of the Year award:
Tamás Günzer,
from the Villány wine region.
This year, Tamás Günzer was among the candidates for the third time, and thus, after 24 years, a winemaker from Villány won the award again. The wine-producing family grows grapes on 75 hectares, from which 5,000 hectoliters of wine are made annually. Theirs is a real family business, where everyone has found their ideal job: among the children, Gina deals with marketing, Roland is the head winemaker, and the mother, Mariann, supervises the accounting in addition to catering.
