A change in the eating habits of the Czechs
The Czech population's nutrition habits have changed since the 1989 regime change. The Czechs consume less meat, bread and potatoes, but more vegetables, rice, white bread and sweets consumed. The drink more alcohol and soft drinks than before 1989 – the Czech Statistical Office’s survey revealed.
Although the change in diet seems to be healthier, than the former, obesity is increasing among the Czechs – especiallyamong the children. According to experts, this is basically teh consequence of much less movement and sporting. The survey was published on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution.
