Budapest, May 17th, 2012 – It has become tradition for Heineken Hungaria to choose initiatives jointly with locals in the framework of Heineken’s charity program. Chosen initiatives are then put to vote, where locals have the opportunity to decide which initiatives will receive the financial support worth 6 million HUF. The winning organizations did not waste time, their plans were realized within 6 months after the announcement.
This year, the Sopron branch of the National Association of Large Families received 2.5 million HUF, which provided the opportunity for the organization to organize a multi-day excursion event. The organization also planted a tree to honor HEINEKEN Hungaria and to thank the company for supporting civil organizations of Sopron during the past years. The linden tree was planted in Sopron, in the park neighboring Frankenburg street.
At the same location, the Foundation for Public Safety co-funded the received donation of 1.5 million HUF and was able to purchase a crime system, which is expected to unburden police work and make locals of Sopron feel more safe.
First place winner in Martfű, the Martfű Community Center and Library expanded its book collection and also established an interactive exhibition area for visitors from the received 1.5 million HUF support. Second place winner, the Martfű City Renovation Association changed the scenery of the city by planting flowers along the streets from the granted support of 500.000 HUF. The flowers were planted in a few phases and the process came to a close by organizing a joint gardening day, where volunteers of Heineken also participated.
’We are happy to contribute to the improvement of quality of life for locals of the cities. In the future, Heineken Hungaria will continue to do everything in order to support communities, which are home to its breweries. We will continue with our charity program this year as well, in the hopes of bringing joy to the local community.’ – said László Diós, Human Resources Director of Heineken Hungaria.
