Renewal of the Csillag Store

New developments will revive the downtown. First, the Csillag store will be renewed with, a small Tesco Express on the first floor. This will be the first time that a large supermarket chain ’breaks’ into the downtown quarter.

The Csillag Store on Rákóczi Street found a buyer in April 2007. The renovation plans has been made since then. On the first floor, a Tesco Express will open. Tesco Express is a new business model, which can be characterized as a modern small shop. The remaining area will be the part of a cafe, which is expected to be the successor of the turn of the century cafe  Ostende, which was the center of the literary and musical life.
