Germany’s exports jumped significantly in June, at double-digit rates, in June compared with the previous month, while imports rose less than expected, leaving both trade and current account surpluses higher than expected.
According to preliminary data released by the German statistical office (Destatis) on Friday, seasonally and calendar-adjusted in June exports amounted to 94.5 billion euros, up 14.9 percent from the previous month. Recording the beginning of the data series, this has been the strongest monthly rate since August 1990. Analysts expected exports to increase by 13.3 percent after an 8.9 percent rise in May. (MTI)
