(HU) Megtört a jég: a háború kezdete óta elindulhatott az első ukrajnai gabonaszállítmány
Since the war in Ukraine, which began on February 24, the country has not delivered grain, even though Ukrainian wheat and corn are in great demand worldwide. Now, however, a grain transport ship was finally able to set sail, transporting 26,000 tons of corn first to Istanbul and then to Tripoli. The country expects significant revenues from the resumption of grain exports.

Ukraine, which is one of the world’s largest grain exporters, suffered serious losses due to the fact that it could not sell the 20 million tons of wheat and corn from the previous year’s harvest. This fallout caused a food crisis on a global scale. However, now both sides can breathe a sigh of relief, since after many months, the first ship carrying Ukrainian grain under the flag of Sierra Leone was able to leave for Istanbul, Turkey, on a safe route. There, the cargo ship named Razoni, carrying 26,000 tons of corn, will be inspected, which will continue from there to Tripoli, Libya. The agreement on the creation of the “Safe Humanitarian Sea Corridor” was concluded by Ukraine and Turkey through the mediation of the UN. For Lebanon, this corn shipment is a lifesaver, as the country has so far obtained 80% of its grain needs from Ukraine and Russia.
In Hungary, the yield of wheat decreased due to the drought
The global situation is further aggravated by the fact that the recent drought significantly reduced the grain harvest in Europe, including Hungary, and Romania, which supplies 10% of the European Union’s grain demand, could also register a 25% drop due to the heat waves.
