Smoking in restaurants would be prohibited

If the Parliament supports the proposal of the Health Committee, the law about the protection of the non-smokers could be strenghtened. Hosts expects a further drop in the turnover of the host sites.

sokThe proposal would prohibit smoking in the enclosed premises at host sites with kitchen. Contrary the current situation, it is allowed to separate the smoking and non-smoking places in restaurants. Thus, the ban would affect only to restaurants, in pubs it would be legal to smoke. Hosts fear that with the banning of smokers a lot of guests would be missed which would threaten the restaurants with small turnover or with bankruptcy. At the same time, in dozens of European countries and in 15 U.S. states smoking is already have been banned in enclosed public places, like restaurants pubs and cafés and experience shows that prohibiting smoking did not have a significant decrease in turnover – reports Pénzcentrum.hu.
