Peste de petits ruminants (PPR) zones lifted
Since January 31, the National Food Chain Safety Authority (Nébih) has not detected any new outbreaks of PPR. Based on the positive epidemiological results, the authority has lifted all territorial restrictions imposed due to the disease.

In January, Nébih detected the presence of PPR in three sheep farms in Hungary. Since the confirmed cases, no new suspicions have arisen and its investigations have not confirmed any further outbreaks, so Nébih has lifted the territorial restrictions imposed due to the disease. Hungary will regain its freedom from PPR, as required by the relevant regulations of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), at the earliest at the end of August. However, small ruminant farms must continue to maintain strict disease control measures, as they must take care of their livestock not only due to the resurgence of small ruminant plague but also due to the spread of foot-and-mouth disease.
