Price increase has been stopped in the euro zone
According to Eurostat's statistics of inflation, in May 0.0 percentage value was indicated in the 12 monthly consumer price index for the euro zone. On monthly basis, 0.1 percent inflation was measured.
The reduction in the inflation rate can be justified by the 11.6 percent of energy reduction. While energy prices declined, food increased by 0.3 percent, alcohol, and tobacco products increased by 3.3 compared to last year. The highest price increase was measured in Malta (3.4 percent) and the Netherlands (1.5 percent), while in Ireland and in Portugal prices have already reduced by 1.7 and 1.2 percent. Although the European Central Bank (ECB) forecasts that due to the strong weakening in demand, for a few months (late summer-autumn) inflation will slide into a negative range, but there's no need to be maintained from deflation.
