TECHXPO 2024, Central Europe’s largest tech summit, has opened its doors in Budapest. The four-day event kicked off with a robust international conference program, with the opening keynote address by Antal Rogán, Minister Head of the Prime Minister’s Cabinet Office, on the topic of Digital Citizenship. Other speakers at the conference included Gerd Leonhard, one of the world’s TOP 10 futurists, Hong-Eng Koh, Huawei Technologies’ Global Chief Researcher for the Public Service Industry, and Gábor Bojár, Founder of Graphisoft.

TECHXPO 2024 brought together the region’s most prominent technology, innovation, and business leaders for the first time at the Millenáris in Budapest. The event aimed to showcase the technologies of the future and their social impacts, with impressive presentations and exciting interactive programs. The central topics of the opening day of the event included digital citizenship, the cooperation between humans and artificial intelligence, and the role of technology in serving sustainable development.

Digital Citizenship: the key to the future

At the opening speech of the event, Antal Rogán, Minister Head of the Prime Minister’s Cabinet Office, spoke about the importance of digital citizenship.

“I trust that the Digital Citizenship Program application will gain broad support, many people will use it because they will see that it is easier to handle matters and identify themselves,”

– said Antal Rogán.

The minister said that he also trusts that digital signatures and digital documents will become more widespread, because this will save money, protect the environment, and reduce bureaucracy.

He explained that DÁP was launched in September, and by now 350-360 thousand people have installed the application on their phones. The goal is to have this number reach 3-5 million by mid-2026, he added.

Antal Rogán also spoke about the ongoing “quiet digital revolution” that is slowly permeating everyday life, “sucking everyone in” because its achievements make administration easier. He also drew attention to the fact that it is up to the individual whether they use DÁP, what they use it for, what they make available to them and what they do not.
