SIAL China has opened, Hungary is also introducing itself
Premium foods and specialties will also be on display at the Agrármarketing Centrum’s community stand in Shanghai, where one of the world’s most significant international food industry events, SIAL China, is currently being held. The expo, which will take place between May 19 and 21, 2025, is a co-event of the SIAL exhibition in Paris, which is not only the largest food industry gathering in China, but also in the whole of East Asia, with the participation of around 5,000 exhibitors and 180,000 professional visitors.
Frozen vegetables, flavored straws, oat bars and, of course, alkaline mineral water are among the products that Hungarian exhibitors are offering to foreign buyers at one of the world’s largest food and beverage trade fairs. Seven domestic food manufacturers will be presenting themselves at the Agrármarketing Centrum’s 90-square-meter community stand, and their offerings include almost all segments, from organic and free products to traditional Hungarian foods. At the exhibition, the representative of the Hungarian Food Business Program, the export development branch of the Agrármarketing Centrum, continuously registers foreign buyers interested in Hungarian products in its online system.
Given the increasing interest in the Chinese market, Hungarian companies are increasingly consciously preparing for the challenges of the Far Eastern market. SIAL is not only a platform for introductions and a market survey opportunity, but also a field for real business negotiations. The People’s Republic of China is one of the largest consumer markets in the world, with more than 1.4 billion inhabitants. The growth of the middle class and the spread of a health-conscious lifestyle have generated demand for new, premium quality products. Hungarian food products, especially organic, free and natural products, have a good chance of starting in this environment. At the same time, entering Chinese exports is not just an opportunity, but a process that requires serious preparations. In any case, products must be registered in the so-called There are many permits and certificates that need to be obtained under the GACC (General Administration of Customs of China) system and depending on the product group. Chinese buyers often make decisions based on emotions, and the origin of the product, the brand background, and the aesthetics and quality of the packaging are important to them.
