Hungary’s first rural Hilton hotel opened in Debrecen
Hungary’s first rural Hilton hotel has opened: the Hilton Garden Inn Debrecen City Center awaits its guests in the historic city center, next to the Reformed Church and the Reformed College, from Thursday.
László Papp (Fidesz-KDNP), the mayor of Debrecen, said at the ceremonial ribbon-cutting that the city had attracted the attention of Hilton’s decision-makers based on its economic results in recent years.
The economy, which is expected to grow dynamically for many years, the tourism values, the airport, and the security characteristic of the city, in addition to the tourism numbers, also support the correctness of the decision regarding the construction of the hotel – added the mayor, indicating that in 2023 the number of guests increased by 4 percent and 5, The number of guest nights in Debrecen increased by 2 percent, making last year a new peak year for the city’s tourism.
The mayor emphasized that the tourism market really exploded this year: in the first quarter, the number of guest nights increased by 23 percent, and the number of guests by 17 percent compared to the first quarter of the previous year.
