The thousandth Tesco-store of Central Europe opened
In Raciborz opened thousandth Tesco store in Europe. In Poland, for over 15 years on the market, Tesco has opened 374 stores. Tesco Poland plans 2011/12 year include the opening of more than 80 stores – from small residential supermarket after Tesco Extra hypermarkets.
– We are proud that it is in Poland opens thousandth Tesco store in Europe. This rapid development is thanks to the network flexibility Tesco. Customer expectations are different in different places, and we open both small, local shops and traditional supermarkets. Store in Raciborz will serve primarily residents of surrounding neighborhoods – said Michael Sikora, a spokesman for Tesco Poland.
Store in Raciborz is 1700 sq m, its range includes about 10 thousand. products of first necessity – it is mainly food products and household chemicals, but also small items Electronics / Appliances, clothing and car accessories. Will promote the local specialties – willie, among others bread and cakes from the bakery “Markiewka”, milk from dairy cooperatives and regional beer from Brewery Racibórz.
In Racibórz Tesco will be employed 50 workers, mostly from the city and surrounding areas.
Store in Raciborz, just a few kilometers from the Czech-Polish border, might be a good symbol of the presence of Tesco in continental Europe. In addition to Polish Tesco stores operate in the Czech Republic's (158 outlets), Hungary and Slovakia (respectively 205 and 97 shops) and Turkey (121 stores). The total area of Tesco stores in Poland are almost 800 thousand. sqm., which represents 30.2% of the Tesco stores in Europe.
