The world’s largest 3D food printing plant has opened in Vienna
Advanced digital manufacturing technologies are giving new impetus to the development of the food industry, especially plant-based foods. One of the latest examples of this is the Austrian startup Revo Foods, which opened the world’s largest 3D food printing plant, the Taste Factory, in Vienna. The company can produce up to 60 tons of food per month using the technology of additive manufacturing, i.e. 3D food printing, revolutionizing the market for plant-based alternatives.
Revo Foods has been developing plant-based products since 2021, and the new technology enables precise control of the texture, structure and nutritional content of food. The goal of the startup is to offer sustainable solutions, reducing the environmental burden of traditional meat production. The new plant in Vienna is uniquely able to produce plant-based fillets and meats that have a texture and taste similar to real meat, preserving the integrity of the nutrients, writes the Agrársektor in a recent article.
The company’s first product is a salmon-inspired plant-based fillet made from mycoprotein, rich in omega-3 fatty acids and vitamins. This product is not only a healthy, but also a sustainable alternative, which received the Nutri-Score A value. Revo Foods’ technology can be a breakthrough in the plant-based food market, meeting the needs of sustainable and health-conscious consumers.
