The 33rd Budapest Wine Festival has opened
The 33rd Budapest Wine Festival opened on Thursday with the guest of honor Georgia, which awaits the interested parties with wines from numerous Hungarian and international producers, gastronomic specialties, podium discussions and other programs on the terraces of the Budavári Palace until Sunday.
In his welcome speech, Minister of Agriculture István Nagy said: visitors to the festival can get to know the traditions of Georgian wine culture that are thousands of years old, but many of the best Hungarian producers are also present.
Quoting Sándor Márai, he emphasized that wine not only has taste, smell and alcohol content, but also spirit, which it receives from the producers and winemakers.
István Nagy told MTI that the government will spend more than 100 million euros to support the wine industry through the resources of the KAP strategic plan until 2027, the biggest part of which is the support of investments that increase the efficiency of grape cultivation and winemaking.
He also drew attention to the resources for promoting Hungarian wine and strengthening its presence on the domestic and foreign markets: 6 million euros are available for this purpose until 2027.
