A surprising turn on eMAG: more people are ordering PCs on installments than refrigerators this Christmas

Early this December, eMAG will celebrate its 12th anniversary in Hungary with a giveaway between December 2-4, 2025, available in the eMAG mobile app. As part of the prize draw, customers will receive a virtual scratch ticket for every order worth at least HUF 10,000 (maximum 3 times per day).

Customers who scratch the virtual ticket can win an eMAG shopping voucher worth HUF 2,000, free easybox delivery, and discount coupons of various amounts redeemable on eMAG for a selected range of products, which they can use for Christmas online shopping.

At the beginning of this year’s holiday season, many customers ordered automatic and capsule coffee makers, upright and bagless vacuum cleaners, and air fryers among small household appliances. Among large appliances, high-energy-efficient refrigerators, heat pump dryers, and slimline washing machines were the best-sellers, while in the area of ​​personal hygiene, electric toothbrushes were the best-sellers. Compared to the beginning of last season, this year more people ordered premium beauty products, perfumes, coffee and tea, and fitness equipment from the platform.

Many people order not only consoles, but also traditional games

At the beginning of the season, an average customer ordered a game from eMAG for around 8-10 thousand forints, the most popular products being the collectible figures available in cat-in-a-bag packaging and the LEGO sets designed for older children and adults. In addition, an “escape room”-style home detective game, a special Rubik’s cube, a drawing board with LED lighting, and a play kitchen also made it to the top list.

Many people order games consoles that run retro games but can also be used with modern TVs, but the cheaper Xbox and Playstation consoles (the Xbox Series S and PS5 Digital) are also popular.

More people ordered PCs in installments than washing machines or refrigerators

The appearance of PC components in the Christmas top 10 is somewhat unexpected in the case of eMAG; according to this year’s sales statistics, most people ordered memory modules that can be placed in desktop PCs. In addition to memory, large SSD drives with 1-2 terabyte storage capacity were also popular in November.

Another characteristic related to computers is that during the first weeks of this year’s Christmas season, desktop PCs were the most frequently ordered items, with laptops and game consoles being the second most prominent product categories in this area, followed only by household appliances.  This is of course not surprising, since a better-equipped PC can cost half a million forints, and household appliances can be purchased for around 100-150 thousand forints.

In terms of laptops, we find models from the Lenovo, Apple, Asus and Acer brands at the top of the sales lists in the first weeks of the holiday season, while among mobile phones, mid-range devices from Xiaomi, Samsung and Motorola were the most popular at that time.
