Surprising things discovered about diet pills
A comprehensive study involving two million people has revealed that popular weight loss drugs such as Ozempic and Wegovy do not only help with weight loss, but can also have a positive effect on many areas of health. According to a study led by the University of Washington, taking the drugs improves heart health, reduces the risk of dementia, drug addiction and several mental illnesses, and reduces the incidence of certain infections, writes Pénzcentrum, following the BBC.
Thanks to their active ingredient that mimics the hormone GLP-1, these drugs can achieve health benefits not only by reducing body weight, but also by directly affecting the functioning of cells and tissues. According to the results of the study, the incidence of heart attacks, strokes and high blood pressure has decreased, as well as the rate of Alzheimer’s disease.
However, along with the positive effects, the research has also revealed dangers. Digestive problems, pancreatitis and joint pain have become more common among those taking the drugs. Because of the side effects, researchers warn that these drugs should be used with caution and under close medical supervision.
The study results represent a significant advance, but limitations of the research, such as the homogeneity of the participants, require further investigation. Experts caution against generalizing the results and emphasize the importance of longer-term studies to understand the full effects of the drugs.
