Surprisingly price decline after VAT increase
According to Privátbankár.hu; the consequences of the VAT increase do not appear in the prices of the stores, prices even decreased. The value of the price basket of the internet portal shows a significant decrease on monthly and on annual basis either.
On the basis of a price snapshot made on the 10th of July in one-one stores of three hypermarket chains, the average prices were 2.9 percent lower than in June, and compared to last years July 2.2 percent decrease has been occiured.
Compared to last month, the tested prices only increased in the Tesco by 2.9 percent. On a monthly base in Auchan and in Cora, however, a significant, 6, and 5.4 percent decrease has been occurred. On annual basis none of the three hypermarket chains became expensive. Auchan became the least cheaper by 1 per cent. In Tesco prices decreased by 2.2 percent in the Cora by 3.3 percent – reports Privátbankár.hu.
