What should the school lunch be?
The Collège Clairefontaine, a middle school located near Arras in Duisans, offered cooking workshops during the 2011/2012 school year for students struggling in school.
For two hours every Wednesday, students discovered the basic components of a healthy diet and completed a practical activity, such as cooking a vegetable or preparing a dish or a dessert. Afterwards, they shared their meals with each other.
The sessions provided an opportunity to review the students' knowledge and teach them about good nutrition, the basics of a balanced diet, and how to follow easy recipes at home.
One year after the project began, the students recognize they enjoyed trying out new foods and are proud of the dishes they prepared. They were also able to share their cooking talents with their friends by sharing their dishes with them during the evening meal.
