The Tourism Summit organized by Visit Hungary began on Tuesday with the participation of more than 50 speakers and nearly a thousand guests from sixteen countries. The first day of the two-day international summit of the tourism industry was closed by a special presentation by two astronauts from the HUNOR program, Visit Hungary announced to MTI on Tuesday.

The tourism industry summit will be hosted by the Whale Budapest on October 14-15, 2025. The statement quoted Olivér Csendes, CEO of Visit Hungary, who opened the event, as emphasizing that although artificial intelligence now answers almost all questions, travel and tourism still need interesting personalities. Since tourism is changing faster than ever, it is crucial that players in the sector learn from each other.

According to the statement, Anikó Túri, State Secretary for Administration at the Ministry of National Economy, emphasized in her welcoming speech that we can be proud of the performance of the tourism sector, which already accounts for 13 percent of the economy and is one of its most important drivers. According to her, tourism had a record year last year and will continue to grow at a rocket speed this year. In order for this to remain so, it is also necessary to not only follow the processes that determine the future of tourism, but also to actively shape them.

He emphasized: let us be among the first to turn artificial intelligence into a competitive advantage in tourism.

“Our country considers AI to be a key driving force of economic competitiveness, and its exploitation is supported by the government’s AI strategy, the shaping of the legal environment and, among other things, a capital program worth approximately 68 billion forints that can be spent on artificial intelligence-based developments and their practical application,”

– he said, according to the statement.

Tibor Kapu and Gyula Cserényi spoke about the connections between space exploration and modern technical achievements: planning and implementation based on reliable data are just as essential in space travel as they are in tourism.

The presentations at the conference will take place in three sections: the first day in the “Arena” section will focus on future tourism, adapting to the needs of a changing world, megatrends, new technologies, travel platforms and the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in tourism and travel.

In the block dealing with professional tourism, the business They explored the importance of meetings, conferences and exhibitions, their innovation opportunities and their impact on the venues hosting the events. In the new generation zone, the participants discussed the latest issues of tourism-related education and innovation, the organizers informed.
