Harvest has begun
The early grape varieties are still harvested, such as the Csabagyöngye and the Irsai Olivér in the vicinity Balatonboglár and Etyek – Horváth Csaba told MTI on Thursday.
The General Secretary of the National Council of Wine Communities (HNT) added that the harvesting of early varieties began for about one and a half weeks ago, due to the hot weather, in order to preserve the quality.
After this year's harvest, about 2.5-3.0 million hectoliters of wine is expected to be transported into the cellars. The amount will be greatly influenced by the weather of the forthcoming weeks. If the drought continues, volume will decrease further, but a long rainy period can have negative effects as well. (MTI)
