The payment of agricultural insurance premium subsidies has begun
The aim of the Ministry of Agriculture, in addition to encouraging the wider application of technological developments and production practices for the prevention of damage caused by climate change, is for plant growers and gardeners to supplement their risk management tools with agricultural insurance as much as possible in the spirit of self-care – Zsolt Feldman called attention.
To this end, almost 14 billion HUF insurance premium subsidies were approved in connection with more than 23,000 farmer applications in December this year – emphasized the State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture responsible for agriculture and rural development.
Zsolt Feldman pointed out that Hungary has the most extensive agricultural risk management system in the European Union
As one of the pillars of this, farmers have for many years been able to use the subsidy for the premiums of agricultural insurance contracts linked to weather risks, if they request it in a unified subsidy application submitted to the Hungarian Treasury. The unbroken success of the measure and the commitment of the Ministry of Agriculture to the measure are proven by the fact that while the annual available subsidy amount was HUF 4 billion in 2016, in 2023, almost HUF 14 billion in subsidies were approved in connection with more than 23,000 applications.
On November 7, 2022, the European Union Commission adopted Hungary’s Common Agricultural Policy Strategic Plan
Based on this, the agricultural support resources became usable from January 1, 2023. The Hungarian strategic plan continues to give priority to the support of risk management tools, accordingly, in order to maintain and increase the desire to insure and self-care, producers can count on the support related to the insurance premium in the long term – stated the state secretary.
