Final payment of direct agricultural subsidies has begun
On February 25, 2025, the Hungarian State Treasury began the final payment of support applications submitted under the 2024 Single Application under the title of production-linked dairy cow support. In the first round, transfers were made to nearly 90 percent of those affected, approximately 2,900 livestock keepers, totaling approximately 1.2 billion forints.
Final payments will also begin in March under the other area- and animal-based titles. The goal is for direct support to be paid typically before the 2025 application period. So far, HUF 407.4 billion has been paid to 147.6 thousand farmers under 19 titles in connection with last year’s applications, and 97 percent of those affected have already received some kind of payment. In the coming months, approximately 140 billion forints are expected to be paid out under these headings in stages – as the control processes necessary for the payment process continue to progress.
Agricultural subsidies are intended to compensate for additional costs and lower sales revenue for farmers caused by the constraints and conditions of high-level EU regulations.
