The supporting control campaign of drone plant protection service providers has begun
The National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) provides a supporting inspection to ensure that plant protection service providers with spraying drones perform their tasks in accordance with the law. During the recently launched inspections, the authority first of all informs the service providers of the conditions required for the sake of legality. At the same time, it also assesses what typical errors and deficiencies occur during their work, and in which areas they require more thorough official information and assistance.

In the past period, Nébih has received numerous reports that some service providers are advertising and recommending various drone plant protection services to producers on social media platforms. Among other things, for example, desiccation of rapeseed and sunflower, as well as fungicide and insecticidal treatments in field crops, as well as in grape and fruit orchards. In connection with this, we must point out that drone plant protection activities for own goods production and service purposes cannot be legally carried out in Hungary at the moment. At the same time, with a permit, it is possible to carry out experimental plant protection activities with a spraying drone. Due to the above, Nébih launched a supportive control campaign among domestic spraying drone plant protection service providers, with the aim of providing them with detailed information about the legal regulatory environment affecting them. Since the establishment of the office, it has been striving to support the spread of modern and at the same time safe plant protection technological and technical solutions in Hungary, as well as to promote the creation of a regulatory environment that ensures their legal application. Supporting controls also fit well into this target system.
The recently launched inspection campaign is expected to last until the end of October. We also report on the experiences gained during the inspection on the Nébih website.
