African swine fever has appeared in Germany
African swine fever has reached Germany, the swine fatal virus (ASP) has been detected in a wild boar carcass, the federal government’s agriculture and food minister announced in Berlin on Thursday.
Julia Klöckner said the carcass of the infected beast was found in the Brandenburg province in the east of the country, a few kilometers from the Polish border. ASP was also detected by the provincial and federal reference laboratories in samples taken from residues. Thus, it became certain that the virus that appeared in the territory of the European Union in 2014 reached Germany. (MTI)
